At a Chamber of Commerce breakfast club meeting at Heligan Mr.Smit talked about houses in a proposed eco towns being powered by a geothermal energy plant. During his speech, Mr Smit urged fellow members of the breakfast club to take responsibility for their actions in the race against climate change.
He also mentioned the plans to build a £117M incinerator in the small village of St Dennis, saying
" Doesn't that seem like the mark of an uncivilised society?"
He said the UK was way behind it's Scandinavian counterparts in terms of recycling and society's attitude towards the climate & waste. "We live in an important exciting time, an era which could become like a new renaissance in terms of our thinking and reaction to the world around us"
